In 2001 I saw a pitch display Lloyd Watts had made that used a spiral to show both octave relationships and pitch contiguity (see “Cortex Musical Chord” here ).

I liked the idea, and experimented a bit with spiral pitch displays. What I hoped to do was show how certain aspects of consonance/dissonance exist in the cochlea (the part of the ear that turns pressure waves into neural impulses).

I made some progress ...
