As soon as I heard James Tenney’s piece Wake, I knew I wanted to do an animation of it. The piece is a canon (like a round) of sixteen parts.

In my animation, the “theme” is a fixed shape (an arrangement of lines), and the players (colored spheres) perform by striking the theme as they move past it in a circle (they briefly turn red and leave a trail when they strike):
