One of the demonstration tapes I made went to Edward Tufte , author of my favorite book about visualizing data (here he is signing books at one of his wonderful seminars):

He encouraged me to mass-produce a video tape, offering to sell it and show examples at his presentations. After some arm-twisting, I agreed. The result of this was that the Music Animation Machine, which had previously only been seen by my friends and people I sent demo videos to, was seen by thousands of people.
